The Falcon running back, Farrow, was nominated for the Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the NCAA DII Football Player of the Year

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Fairmont State University football running back, Leonard Farrow was nominated for the 2025 Harlon HIll Trophy. This award is given to the NCAA DII Football Player of the Year.

Farrow is just one of 36 student-athletes from across all of Division II to earn the nomination for the 2025 Harlon Hill Trophy, the NCAA DII equivalent for the Heisman.

He is one of the eight nominees in Super Region 1 and one of 10 running backs.

Farrow, a redshirt-junior running back from Mount, Hope, West Virginia, was named First Team All-Mountain East Conference after leading the MEC with 1,438 rushing yards while also scoring 12 touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

His 1,438 rushing yards ranks fifth in all of NCAA Division II and is the second-most in a single season in Fairmont State history, During the year he also busted off a 95-yard run against Charleston which is the second-longest rushing play from scrimmage in Falcon history.

He was named the Division II Player of the Week back on September 2 by D2Football.com as he was also a two-time MEC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 1 and Nov. 3).

The sports information directors at the 159 NCAA Division II football-playing institutions nominate and vote on the award. The 36 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots and the top two players from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the national ballot when regional voting concludes on Monday, December 1.

The sports information directors at their respective schools initially nominate candidates. The SIDs in those Super Regions vote for their top five candidates. The winner is then determined in a nationwide vote of the Division II sports information directors.

The winner of the 2025 award will be announced on Friday, December 19.

The Hill Trophy is named for the late Harlon Hill - the former University of North Alabama standout - who excelled with the Lions from 1950-53 before going on to fame in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.
