WHEELING, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University acrobatics & tumbling team continued conference play against Wheeling University. The Falcons were able to easily outscore the Cardinals, 261.790-137.525.
The day began with the Complusory Event as Fairmont State (3-0) scored a 38.000 compared to 28.200 for Wheeling (0-2). In the pyramid heat, the Falcons recorded a 9.850 and then a 9.800 in the toss heat.
Up next was the Acro Event as FSU was able to extend its lead with a 26.350 as the 5-Element was awarded a 9.450. The Cardinals notched a 22.250 for the event.
Just before intermission, the Toss Event took place as the Falcons were given a 27.950 total of the three heats. In the open heat, the group scored a 9.550 with a start value of 9.900. At the break, FSU led 93.500 to 74.650 for the hosts.
Continuing their strong performance, the Falcons scored a total of 51.350 in the Tumbling Event. For the open pass, the judges awarded a 9.550 to the open pass for the maroon and white.
In the team event, Fairmont State wrapped up the afternoon with an 88.990 to pick up the road win.
Fairmont State will host its first meet of the season on Sunday, February 23 when Gannon University comes to campus. Start time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
