FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University acrobatics and tumbling team hosted its first home meet of the season against Gannon University. The Falcons were able to improve on its hot start to the year with a 246.785-239.395 victory.
The day got started with the Compulsory Event as Fairmont State claimed the event with a score of 36.550 compared to 35.050 for Gannon. In the Toss Heat, the groups of

Katey Koehl,
Izaria McWhorter-Martin,
Alexa Wilson,
Alexis Wilkinson,
Rylee Vinson,
Brylee Knotts,
Reghan Mollohan,
Kassidy Price,
Olivia Daniels and
Kaylee Rehak earned a score of 9.800 with a start value of 10.
Moving to the Acro Event, the Falcons once again posted the best score with a 27.100, nearly three points more than the visitors (24.850). The strongest event for the hosts was in the 5-Element heat as
Izaria McWhorter-Martin,
Chloe Smith,
Zara Christophe,
Alexa Wilson and
Madeline Walker were awarded a 9.300.
In the Pyramid Event, Gannon was able to win its first event of the afternoon with a score of 27.150 while Fairmont State totaled 26.000. The Falcons, however, did post an incredible score of 9.950 out of 10.000 in the Open heat. At the half, FSU led the overall match score of 89.650-87.050.
After halftime, the dual continued with the Toss Event. In the event, the Falcons were awarded a total of 26.500 compared to 25.950 for the Golden Knights. For the open heat, FSU received a score of 9.100 as Openlander, Koehl, McWhorter-Martin, Wilson, Wilkinson and Daniels were on the mat.
The next event on the schedule was Tumbling as Fairmont State was able to widen its advantage with a score of 50.225 over the six heats.
Katey Koehl garnered a 9.425 in the open pass while
Azia Shaffer posted a 9.175 for the aerial pass.
Lastly was the Team Event as the visitors were given a score of 78.220. However, the Falcons put the final stamp on the meet with a 80.410.
Fairmont State (4-0) remains at home on Sunday, March 2 to face West Virginia State University. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
