INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Colton Stoneking and
Austin Gibson started the 2025 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships on Friday, March 14.
Stoneking got his day started in the 141-weight class with a major decision win over Colton Hush of Minnesota State. Stoneking then battled Ronan Schuelke of McKendree who was seeded fourth in the tournament. After a hard fought battle, Stoneking came out on top with a 4-3 decision to advance to the semifinals. The win also secured All-American status for the junior wrestler out of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Gibson faced Garrett Wells of Central Oklahoma in the first round the 184-pound bracket. Gibson was able to earn a 7-5 decision victory to advance to the second round. In his second round match, the senior wrestler fell to to the number three-seed in the tournament, Keegan Gehlhausen of Chadron State. In his first consolation battle, Gibson was bested by Jacari Deal of Nebraska-Kearney.
Colton Stoneking's semifinal match will occur on Saturday, March 15. He will be the third match of the morning on Mat 1. The day gets started at 10:00 a.m.
