EMORY, Va. -- The Fairmont State University softball team continued its stretch of road games at Emory & Henry University. The Falcons fell in the first game, 8-5 before taking game two, 12-7.
Game 1: Emory & Henry 8, Fairmont State 5

The hosts added to their lead in the second inning with a sacrifice fly and then in the third scored two more runs off a double to left center. Leading 5-1, E&H tacked on an additional run in the fourth with an RBI single up the middle.Â
In the top of the fifth, the Falcons cut into the deficit when

Alexa Andrews. A few at-bats later,
Breonna Marietta singled to left field as
Kensy Thomas crossed the plate to make it a 6-3 game.

E&H was able to trim the deficit in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single before a walk with the bases loaded to make it a 7-3 contest. Fairmont State quickly gained those runs back in the fourth as McCormick and Andrews delivered back-to-back RBI singles. Keilholz then lifted a ball to left field for a sacrifice fly as Thomas was able to score on the play.Â
The Wasps scored in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run before scoring once more in the fifth via an RBI double. In the sixth, Andrews hit the third home run of the game for Falcons, another two-run long ball to make the score 12-5.
Emory & Henry was able to score an additional run in the sixth and seventh innings but the deficit was too large as the Falcons picked up the road win.
