MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University baseball team concluded its series against West Virginia Wesleyan College. Despite playing at their home field, the Falcons were the visitors and proceeded to hits five home runs en route to a 25-1 victory.
Fairmont State got the scoring started in the first inning when
Quintin Smith hit a home run over the right field wall. In the second inning, the Falcons erupted for nine runs on five hits. The inning was highlighted by a bases clearing triple from
Quintin Reep.
Leading 10-0, FSU continued to grow its lead in third with 11 more runs. During the frame,
Tyler Haskins hit a three-run homer over the right center fence.
Moving to the sixth inning,
Caleb Cottle hit his first collegiate home run before
Gunner Riley did the same just two at-bats later. The final run for the Falcons came in the seventh when
Gage Bibey left the yard.Â
Fairmont State (15-11, 9-3) is set to host Point Park University in four-game series. The first two games are set to take place on Saturday, April 5 with a 1:00 p.m. start time.
