KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Fairmont State University acrobatics & tumbling team faced Kutztown University in the final meet of the regular season. The Falcons bested the Golden Bears, 258.915-239.465.
The opening event of the day was the Compulsory Event as Fairmont State grasped the early lead, 36.800-35.500. In the toss heat, the Falcons earned a 9.750.
FSU expanded its lead with a 27.700 in the Acro Event. The group of
Izaria McWhorter-Martin,
Chloe Smith,
Zara Christophe,
Alexa Wilson and
Madeline Walker received a 9.600 in the 5-Element heat.
Kutztown got the upper hand in the Pyramid Event with a 28.950 compared to 28.350. The Falcons still held the advantage at the half, 92.850-91.150.
Out of the break, Fairmont State started to pull away with the Toss Event. The visitors posted a 27.500 compared to 25.350 for the hosts.Â
The lead continued to grow as the Falcons were given a 52.125 for the Tumbling Event with 46.425 for the Golden Bears. In the open heat,
Katey Koehl's pass was judged to be a 9.575.
The meet concluded with Team Event as FSU earned an 86.440 to secure the road win.
With the win, Fairmont State finished the year 8-1 while going a perfect 6-0 in MEC competition and earned its second-straight regular season title. The Falcons will now host the MEC Championships on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12. The team will face Kutztown University in the semifinals on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
