ROANOKE, W.Va. — Fairmont State University's men's golf team secured second place at the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational, highlighted by
Ben Ritenour's tie for seventh with a 222 (+6) and
Colby Bent's tie for ninth with a 223 (+7).
Ben Ritenour tied for 7th with a final score of 222 (+6). Ritenour's performance was consistent, starting with an even-par 72 in the first round, followed by a 74 (+2) and finishing with a 76 (+4) in the third round.
Colby Bent finished tied for 9th, just one stroke behind Ritenour, with a final score of 223 (+7). Bent's highlight was an even-par 72 in the final round after opening with rounds of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3).
Parker Conover secured a tie for 14th place with a total score of 226 (+10). Conover's standout round was his opening 68 (-4), though he faced challenges in subsequent rounds, carding 80 (+8) and 78 (+6).
Mason Lapana, representing the Falcons [B], finished tied for 16th with a score of 227 (+11). Lapana's performance improved with a 73 (+1) in the final round after starting with rounds of 75 (+3) and 79 (+7).
Caleb Young tied for 20th at 229 (+13), delivering consistent rounds of 75 (+3), 76 (+4), and 78 (+6) to contribute to the Falcons [A]'s overall second-place finish.
Fairmont State's next tournament will be on Monday, September 22 for the Hannastown Intercollegiate at the Hannastown Golf Club in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
