BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week's Volleyball Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Fairmont State's
Joey Borelle shared MEC Offensive Player of the Week honors after her had standout performances in an undefeated weekend, while Borelle's teammate,
Josie Skinn, is the MEC Defensive Player of the Week after picking up Tournament MVP honors at the Fairmont State Classic.
Borelle is the MEC's early leader in multiple statistical categories. She totaled 64 kills — 16 in each of the Falcons' four wins — while earning all-tournament honors. Borelle leads the conference in kills per set and points per set this season.
Skinn earned MVP accolades after a stellar performance in wins against Elizabeth City State, Palm Beach Atlantic, UVA Wise, and Slippery Rock. After a 21-dig performance in a 3-1 win against Palm Beach Atlantic, Skinn followed that up with a game-high 27 digs in a 3-1 victory versus Slippery Rock. Skinn leads the MEC with 5.40 digs per set.
