FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University (10-3, 5-2 MEC) defeated West Liberty University (5-8, 2-4 MEC), 76-54, at Joe Retton Arena, capitalizing on a 46-26 advantage in points in the paint. The Falcons forced 27 turnovers, converting them into 29 points, to secure the victory.

Fairmont State opened the game with an assertive inside presence, scoring their first eight points from the paint. This early success was highlighted by Ryan Davis' layup at 6:51, assisted by Alanna Tate. Despite the Hilltoppers' attempt to narrow the gap with a pair of 3-pointers, the Falcons maintained control with Gabby Reep sinking crucial free throws in the final seconds. The quarter concluded with the Falcons holding a 14–12 lead.

The Falcons surged ahead in the second quarter with a dominant defensive performance, highlighted by holding West Liberty to just one basket. Zaniya Murray played a crucial role, scoring early with a layup and later capping the quarter with a 3-pointer at the 5-second mark. The home team capitalized on turnovers and controlled the paint, outscoring the Hilltoppers 12-0 in this area. Fairmont State extended their lead significantly, finishing the quarter ahead 33-15.
