Carter Named to Bevo Francis Award Watch List

Kansas City, Mo. – Small College Basketball and the National Awards Committee announced the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List for the 2025–26 season. Fairmont State men's basketball student-athlete, Drey Carter was named to the watch list.

Carter, a redshirt junior, is a native of Bellefontaine, Ohio. Carter joined Fairmont State University this season after transferring from Wright State University. So far this season, Carter has played and started in 14 games, averaging 16.7 points per game with 7.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Additionally, he has shot 61.5-percent from the field (80-130) and 70.2-percent from the free throw line (66-94). He has also garnered a Mountain East Conference Player of the Week honor back on January 5, 2026.

The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.

The list highlights many of the nation's top student-athletes competing across NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA, and NCCAA programs. Though the season is just three months old, these players have already distinguished themselves as top performers at the small college level nationwide.

On February 15, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players.  One month later on March 15, the Top 25 players will be announced. On April 4, the finalists of this year's award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 6.
