FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State University women's basketball team opens the Mountain East Conference Tournament on Thursday, March 5.

Fairmont State, seeded fifth in the tournament, will face the fourth-seeded Concord University Mountain Lions in the final game of the MEC Quarterfinals.
The Falcons enter the game with a record of 20-8 while going 13-7 in conference play. The team had one all-conference player in
Gabby Reep, who was named All-MEC First Team. On the season, the team averages 73.3 points per game with 37.6 rebounds per game while forcing opponents to turn the ball over 25 times a game.
On the other side of the court, Concord enters with an 18-10 overall record with a 13-7 record in the MEC. The Mountain Lions are led by Abbie Smith, who was named the MEC Player of the Year and First Team All-MEC. They enter averaging 76.9 points per game while grabbing 41.7 rebounds per game.
The two teams have met twice this season as they split the series. In the first meeting on December 20, the Falcons came out on top at home with a 76-70 victory. Reep led the team with 17 points with seven rebounds and six steals.

In the second meeting, the Mountain Lions got revenge with an 89-58 victory.
Zaniya Murray led Fairmont State with 17 points as Reep was the only other member of the team to finish with double-digit points with 14.
Fans planning to attend the game should allow for more travel time as there will be construction on both I-70 East and Westbound from milepost 7.0 (Middle Creek Bridge), to milepost 14.5 (Pennsylvania state line).
