FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University acrobatics & tumbling team faced Glenville State University for the Mountain East Conference Championship. The Falcons defeated the Pioneers, 261.450-243.220, to repeat as MEC Champions. This is Fairmont State's fifth MEC Championship.
The championship meet got under way in the Compulsory Event as Fairmont State took the early lead, 36.325-35.150. The team scored 9.750 and 9.725 in the pyramid and toss heats, respectively.
In Acro Event, the Falcons slightly expanded their lead with a 28.200. In the seven-element,
Taryn Laurence,
Alexa Wilson,
Elizabeth Maurer and
Alexis Wilkinson combined for a score of 9.650.
Fairmont State grew its lead in the Pyramid Event with a 29.200 compared to a 26.875 from Glenville State. The team's open pyramid was the highlight of the event with a 9.850. At the half, the Falcons led 93.725-90.000.
The Toss Event was next for both teams as the Falcons posted a 28.375. Both the 450 salto and open heats scored a 9.525.
In the Tumbling Event, the Falcons grew the lead with a 53.950.
Zoe Ringwald's six-element pass was judged to be a 9.800 with a start value of 10.
The final event of the evening was the Team Event. As fans stood prior to and through the entire performance, Fairmont State scored an 85.400 to secure back-to-back MEC Championships.
Earlier in the day, the team took part in the Event Finals. The Falcons brought home first-place in 10 of the 15 events. Below are the events the team won along with the scores.

Fairmont State now awaits for the final NCATA National Rankings to see where it will be seeded in the NCATA National Championships. The championships start on Thursday, April 23 from Azusa, California.
