INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA has announced the field of 80 teams and 32 student-athletes competing as individuals that have been selected to participate in regional competition of the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. Regional play will be conducted May 7–9.
The Fairmont State University men's golf team earned its first team NCAA appearance for the first time in 17 years. In recent years, the team has had a few individual qualifiers for the regional.
On the year, the team has finished in the top-10 in nine of its 10 team tournaments with the team's best finish coming in the Mountain East Conference Championship in the fall. The team earned a third-place finish.
The Falcons had three all-conference honorees this season, led by
Caleb Young who as named First Team All-MEC. On the year, Young has an average of 74.3 with four top-10 finishes as his best came at the Wheeling Invitational where he took home fourth.
Joining Young in the all-conference awards were
Colby Bent and
Nik Tomblin as they were named All-MEC Honorable Mention. Bent currently holds an average score of 75.3 with four top-10s as he claimed third at the Bluefield State Invitational. Tomblin is tied for third on the team with a scoring average of 76.9. He has finished inside the top-20 four times with one top-10 finish as he claimed eighth at the Bridgeport Collegiate Individual.
Tied with Tomblin is
Eric Feng, who joined the team in the spring semester. Feng, with a 76.9 scoring average, has two top-10 finishes as he earned eighth at the Larry and Wally Edgell Battle at Brunswick.
Ben Ritenour and
Mason Lapana round out the top six with scoring averages of 77.8 and 78.0, respectively. Ritenour has finished in the top-20 three times with a seventh-place finish at the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational. Lapana garnered one top-20 finish as he brought home 16th at the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational.
The regional is compiled of both the Atlantic and East Regions. It will take place at the Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Play will begin on Thursday, May 7 and conclude on Saturday, May 9.
