Fairmont State Sweeps Season Finale

FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Fairmont State University acrobatics & tumbling team wrapped up the regular season with a tri-meet against Frostburg State University and Wheeling Univeristy. The Falcons were victorious with a score of 260.570 meanwhile Frostburg State finished with a 246.525 as Wheeling scored a 203.900.

The Falcons opened the meet with a solid showing in the Compulsory event, posting a 37.35 out of 40. Fairmont State's best scores occurred in the Acro and Toss heats, scoring 9.65 in both.

Fairmont State continued to build momentum in the Acro event, totaling 23.75. The six-element and seven-element heats, where the Falcons posted strong scores of 9.55 and 9.65, respectively.

One of Fairmont State's best events of the night came in Pyramid, where it scored an impressive 29.00 out of 30. The Falcons delivered near-flawless routines, including a 9.85 in the open heat.

The Toss event also proved to be a strength for Fairmont State, as it totaled 28.05 points. A 9.60 in the 450 Salto heat stood out as one of the team's top individual marks with a 9.60

In Tumbling, Fairmont State posted a 53.60, highlighted by strong performances in the aerial, six-element, and open passes—all scoring 9.675 or higher.

The Falcons closed the meet with an 88.82 in the Team Event, bringing their total to 260.570.

With the wins, Fairmont State won its third-straight MEC Regular Season Championship ad its sixth in eight years. 

Fairmont State will turn its attention to the MEC Championships on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12. The championships will be held in Joe Retton Arena. Times and ticket information will be announced in the coming days.
