ATHENS, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State men's and women's basketball teams will open their southern road trip tonight when they meet Concord for the second time this season from the Carter Center in Athens.

Scouting Fairmont State Women's Basketball
- The FSU women have won three-straight and nine of its last 10 games coming into tonight's matchup with Concord.
- The FSU women moved up one spot in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings this week and are now ranked ninth.
- Three weeks ago, the Falcons rolled to a 69-52 victory over Concord at Joe Retton Arena in their first meeting of the season.
- In the win, FSU outscored Concord, 27-13 in the third quarter, led by Makenzie White's 14 third-quarter points. White finished the game with 21 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals.
- FSU also pressured Concord into 26 turnovers in the first meeting of the season back on Jan. 6.
- The Falcons rank fourth in the Mountain East in scoring offense (75.3) and second in scoring defense this season, giving up just 63.7 points per game.
- Amanda Ruffner is tied for sixth in the Mountain East Conference in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game. Makenzie White is also in the top 10 in the MEC in scoring this season, averaging 15.4 points per game.
- In addition to being in the top 10 in the league in scoring, Ruffner is also third in the league in field goal percentage, shooting nearly 62 percent from the field.
- White's 84 assists this season are tied for the most in the league and the junior guard is also leading FSU in rebounding (6.7).
- Only one player is shooting under 73 percent from the free throw line this season for the Lady Falcons. In addition, three players are shooting 79 percent or better from the foul line.
- Emily Puskarich's 45 three-pointers this season are the fourth-most in the league. Her 45 percent three-point field goal percentage is also the fourth-highest in the MEC.
- Deidra Combs has recorded 28 blocked shots this season, which ranks third in the league.
 
Scouting Fairmont State Men's Basketball
- The Fairmont State men moved up to No. 2 in this week's NABC Coaches Poll after seven of the top 11 teams in the rankings suffered a loss last week.
-The Falcons are currently ranked fifth in the country in scoring offense (93.1).
- FSU is also ranked third in the country in turnover margin (5.8).
- Fairmont State is one of just three Division II teams remaining with only one loss this season.
- Fairmont State pulled away in the second half of the first meeting of the season to defeat the Mountain Lions, 90-78, at home. The Falcons used an 8-2 run late in the game to close out the Mountain Lions back on Jan. 6.
- FSU limited Concord to just 12 second-half field goals in that matchup, including a 1-for-11 performance from behind the arc in the second half. FSU also pressured Concord into 20 turnovers, including 16 steals.
- The Falcons scored 33 points-off turnovers in the win and were led by Matt Bingaya with 27 points, 12 rebounds and five steals.
- Jamel Morris also chipped in 21 points and Thomas Wimbush added 14 in the win.
- Bingaya is currently leading the Falcons, averaging 20.2 points and 6.8 rebounds this season. Bingaya is shooting over 60 percent from the floor and has ten 20-point scoring performances this season.
- Jamel Morris, Fairmont's leading three-point shooter at 41 percent this season is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.2 points per game. Morris has 49 threes this season.
- Thomas Wimbush scored a season and career-high 30 points on Monday night at Wesleyan, going 11-of-19 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line.
- FSU has needed overtime to win each of the last two games, erasing a 15-point second half deficit to defeat the Rams 101-91 in overtime last Thursday at Joe Retton Arena. In their last outing, FSU prevailed by scoring 10 of the first 12 points in overtime to close out WV Wesleyan in Buckhannon.
- Wimbush needs just 22 points to become the 45th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. Bingaya, a division I transfer from Southern Miss, has also scored 959 career points in his college basketball career, needing just 41 points to go over 1,000.
