FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State women's basketball team wrapped up the MEC/PSAC Challenge on Saturday evening by dominating Lock Haven in nearly every aspect of the game, defeating the Bald Eagles by a final tally of 92-53.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 2-0 on the season while Lock Haven went 1-1 over the weekend in Fairmont.

The Falcons were able to create offense all night by locking down on the Bald Eagles and forcing 22 turnovers on the defensive end, scoring 34 points off turnovers in the victory. Of those 22 turnovers, 16 resulted in a steal. Nine different Fairmont State players recorded a steal in the victory.

The Falcons also limited Lock Haven to just 31.3 percent from the field and allowed only 15 field goals in the entire game. The Bald Eagles went just 2-of-10 from three.

On the offensive end, the Falcons had a balanced scoring attack with five players in double-figures, led by
Emily Puskarich with 17 points. Puskarich was a sizzling 5-of-6 from behind the arc. The Falcons also got 14 points and seven assists from
Makenzie White, 13 points from
Gabrielle Etter, 12 points from
Deidra Combs and 10 from
Amanda Ruffner. The Falcons were led on the glass by
Kelli Jo Harrison with seven rebounds and
Jazmine Hamlet with five, both coming off the FSU bench.

The Falcons shot nearly 55 percent from the field in the victory, including a deadly 69 percent in the opening 20 minutes of the game. FSU also turned the ball over just nine times and recorded 19 assists on 29 made field goals.

The only statistical category that Lock Haven held an advantage in was on the glass, out-rebounds the Falcons by a 36-31 margin, including a 17-9 advantage on the offensive glass. The Bald Eagles were led by Lysa Mealing's double-double performance with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Fairmont State held its largest lead of the day at the 1:09 mark of the third quarter with a 48-point advantage (79-31).

The Falcons will now prepare for a non-conference matchup with Walsh University on Wednesday evening at Joe Retton Arena. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
