Student Ticket Promotion
Through the 2016-17 season, all secondary and elementary aged students will receive a free general admission ticket to Fairmont State men's and women's basketball games. In addition, all parent or guardians that accompany any secondary or elementary aged children to the game will receive half-priced admission when purchasing general admission tickets.
Fairmont State WBB Notebook
- After opening the season with a pair of wins against Clarion and Lock Haven at the MEC/PSAC Challenge, the Falcons have dropped two-straight games - including a 57-55 loss in the final seconds agaisnt WV Wesleyan on Saturday evening to open MEC play.
- The Falcons have taken two-straight games against Glenville, defeating the Pioneers on senior day last February, before once against taking down GSC in the quarterfinal round of last year's MEC Tournament in Charleston just a week later.
- Makenzie White is leading FSU four games into the season, averaging 16.0 points and seven rebounds per contest. White is also second on the team with 13 assists and is shooting nearly 50 percent from the field (.489).
- Amanda Ruffner is second on the team in scoring as a senior, averaging 15.0 and 4.8 boards per outing. Ruffner is shooting .500 from the field.
- Emily Puskarich is also averging double-figures at 13.0 points per game this season. Puskarich has a team-high in three-pointers (13), assists (15) and steals (18.0).Â
Scouting Glenville State
- First-year head coach Kim Stephens has Glenvilel State off to a 3-0 start to the 2016-17 season, with wins over West Chester, Edinboro and Shepherd in the first two weeks of the season.
- GSC is averaging 92.3 points per game and is draining 15 three-pointers per game early this season. The Pioneers are shooting nearly 40 percent from three during the first three games of the season.
- Paris McLeod is averaging a team-high 16.0 points per game this season, as four Pioneers are averaging double-figure scoring.
- Glenville State is also pulling down 47.3 rebounds per game.Â
Fairmont State MBB Notebook
- The 25th-ranked Falcons are off to a 4-0 start to the season, including a 3-0 mark inside Joe Retton Arena already this season.
- FSU opened conference play with a 71-61 win over WV Wesleyan on Saturday evening, forcing the Bobcats into 24 turnovers and leading by double-digits for most of the second half.
- Last Tuesday at Joe Retton Arena, Matt Bingaya poured in 28 points to lead Fairmont State to a convincing 96-80 win over Findlay (OH), a consistent DII power in recent seasons.
- Jason Jolly is leading the Falcons in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game this season. Jolly has made a team-high 12 three-pointers and is shooting 13-of-14 from the free throw line this season. Jolly recorded two 20-point scoring performance during the Joe Retton Classic to open the season.
- Matt Bingaya is second on the team in scoring this season and has led the Falcons in scoring in each of the last two games, with 28 against Findlay and 13 at Wesleyan.
- Senior point guard Shammgod Wells has passed out 24 assists and has forced 15 steals in the first four games of the season for the Falcons.
Scouting the Pioneers
- After having their season-opening conference challenge cancelled two week's ago, the Pioneer men opened their 2016-17 season on Saturday with an 89-86 loss to Shepherd on the road.
- In the three-point loss, GSC made 14 three-pointers and turned the ball over just 10 times.
- Jon Dunmyer opened the season with a team-high 31 points for Glenville State, draining eight three-pointers against the Rams.
- Brett Morris recorded a double-double against Shepherd with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
