WHEELING, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State volleyball team completed a 4-0 weekend at the Wheeling Jesuit Volleyball Challenge, defeating Clarion and Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons opened the day with a 3-0 win over the Golden Eagles (25-17, 25-15, 25-19).
Mackenzie Harrison led FSU in the opening match of the day, recording 11 kills, eight digs and eight total blocks.
Rebecca Feeney also reached double-figures with 10 kills and eight total blocks (two solo).
Jessica Furda recorded a double-double for FSU, totaling 30 assists and 13 digs against Clarion.
Megan Clerico also chipped in 16 digs.

In the second match of the day, FSU picked up a thrilling five-set win over the Griffins of Seton Hill. The Falcons started slow in the match, falling 25-10 in the first set. FSU responded by winning the next two sets, including a 25-23 win in set two and a 32-20 advantage in set three. SHU knotted the score at 2-2 following a 25-16 win in the fourth set. FSU wrapped up the win with a 15-9 advantage in set five.

Harrison had another strong performance against the Griffins, totaling 24 kills and six blocks.
Kayla Smith and
Julia Shemaitis also chipped in 13 kills apiece and Bre Blot added 10 to put four players in double-figures. Feeney had another strong performance around the net, totaling nine total blocks in the win, including four solos.

Furda recorded her second double-double of the day, totaling 55 assists and 15 digs. Clerico recorded a team-high 19 digs in the win over the Griffins.

The Falcons will open MEC play on Friday evening when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. opening serve.
