GRAFTON, W.Va. -- Fairmont State's
Ben Knight won the Wally Edgell West Virginia Division II Championship on Tuesday afternoon, helping the Falcons to a second-place finish just four shots behind host institution Davis & Elkins.

Knight, a freshman from Harrisville, W.Va., shot a pair of 73's in the opening two rounds of the tournament before improving his score to 69 in round three. Knight finised one shot ahead of teammate
Chase Voithofer and D&E's Alistair Kyle who tied for second place in the tournament.

Voithofer also shot a pair of 73's in the first two rounds before improving his score to 70 this afternoon.

Fairmont State also placed two more players in the top 10, as
Zac Gower and
Logan Collins each shot a three-round score of 226 to finish in a tie for 9
th place.
Braden Hammond rounded out Fairmont's five-man team, placing 21
st with a three-day score of 234.

Hunter Simmons also participated in the event as an individual for the Falcons, tallying a score of 239 to place 28th.

As a team the Falcons improved in each round, shooting a 301 in round one, 295 in round two and 287 in Tuesday's round three of action.

The Falcons will compete at the MEC Fall Invitational from Oct. 1-3 in Weirton, W.Va. prior to preparing for the MEC Championships from Oct. 9-12 at Glade Springs Resort.
