FSU To Honor Iacobacci During Saturday's Home Opener

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State University and the Mountain East Conference will honor the 2015-16 MEC Female Athlete of the Year, Courtney Iacobacci, during Saturday's home opener against Concord University at Duvall-Rosier Field.

The Fairmont State University Department of Athletics and MEC will officially present Iacobacci with her 2015-16 Mountain East Conference Female Athlete of the Year award during a halftime ceremony on Saturday.

Iacobacci collected numerous accolades after leading the MEC in nearly every offensive category during her senior season. She ranked first in average (.456), slugging (.867), home runs (19), runs scored (53), total bases (137) and on-base percentage (.530). She also set six single-season school records in 2016, and established three new career records at FSU.

In addition to earning MEC Player of the Year honors, she was tabbed as the D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year. She also went on to become just the second All-American in school history earning first team honors from D2CCA and the NFCA. In addition, she was one of just 10 finalists for the NFCA Player of the Year award.

The MEC Female Athlete of the Year is selected by a vote of institutional administrators and the conference office.

Kickoff for Saturday's game between Fairmont State and Concord is set for 1 p.m.
