The Matchup
- Fairmont State and Concord will meet for the 81st time on Saturday afternoon at Duvall-Rosier Field. Despite lead the all-time series with Concord, 43-35-2, the Falcons have lost seven-straight in the series, dating back to the 2009 season.
- The last FSU win in the series was back in 2008, a 27-8 win in Athens. The last victory in Fairmont for the Falcons came back in 2007, a 17-0 shutout of the Mountain Lions.

- The Falcons will be looking to start a season 2-0 for the first time since 2011 under head coach Mike Lopez. That season FSU finished the year 7-4.
- A season ago, No. 22 Concord took a 13-3 lead into the break and pushed the lead to 27-3 early in the third quarter to pick up the 27-10 victory.
Cooper Hibbs completed 19-of-29 pass attempts for 143 yards in the loss.
Fabian Guerra was his top weapon with nine catches for 77 yards.
- Last weekend's week 1 victory for the Falcons was the first since 2013 and is just the second in the last five seasons.
- Today's game marks the only home game in the month of Sept. for the Falcons, who will play back-to-back road games on Thursday night to end the month.
Beyond the Game
At the beginning of halftime on Saturday afternoon, the Fairmont State Department of Athletics and the Mountain East Conference will be honoring standout softball player Courtney Iacobacci by presenting her with the 2015-16 Mountain East Conference Female Athlete of the Year award.

Scouting the Offense
- It was a tail of two halves for the Falcons last weekend in Institute, scoring 20 unanswered points and forcing five second half turnovers to pick up a come-from-behind 30-20 victory.

Andre Hall's 178 receiving yards in week one against the Yellow Jackets were the most by any receiver in the Mountain East Conference last weekend. His 11 receptions were also tied for a league lead with Notre Dame's Emmanuel Smith.
- Fellow freshman
Laurence King joined Hall at the top of the FSU stat sheet last week by adding eight catches for 98 yards in the FSU victory at WV State. In addition, King's 60-yard kickoff return to open the second half also helped lead to a Fairmont State score.
- Senior Fairmont State receiver
Fabian Guerra needs just 11 yards to become the fifth player in school history to go over 2,000 career receiving yards.
- On the ground, Fairmont State running back
Terrell Charles also led the Mountain East Conference with 114 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns against West Virginia State in week one. Charles went over 100-yards for the third time in his FSU career last weekend.
- Concord running back Nick Loftin was second in the MEC in rushing yards a week ago with 104 against West Liberty.
- Senior quarterback
Cooper Hibbs currently ranks third in school history in nearly every passing category, including yards (5,809), touchdowns (46), completions (472) and total offense (5,807).
- Hibbs passed for over 300 yards for the eighth time in his career on Saturday in Institute, completing 26-of-40 passes for 328 yards and a touchdown.
- The Falcons are 10-4 under head coach

Scouting the Defense
- After giving up 20 points and 310 yards to the State offense in the first half of last Saturday's season opener, the Falcons recovered in the second half by holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless and forcing five turnovers in the final 30 minutes of the game. The Falcons limited the 'Jackets to just 131 yards in the second half.
- The FSU defense had multiple players step up in week one, but no one impacted the game as much as
Quincy Redmon, who finished the afternoon with five tackles, a sack, two fumble recoveries and a pass break-up.

Marco Jones also made an impact from the opposite defensive end spot, recording six tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and two quarterback hurries.
- In addition to Redmon and Jones,
Josh Ballard also recorded a sack against WV State.
- Cornerback
Calvin Pringles and linebacker
Antonio Harris each picked off a pass in the season opening win. Pringles' interception was the fourth of his career while Harris recorded the first of his career.
- Senior starting safety
Emanuel Ivey finished second on the team last weekend with seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
- Sophomores
Jerry Iweh and
Stephen Turner finished last weekend's game with eight tackles apiece.
Scouting Concord
- Concord enters Saturday's matchup after defeating West Liberty, 32-25, in week one in Athens.
- The Mountain Lions fell behind 7-0 before scoring 11-straight points and not surrendering the lead for the rest of the day.
- Concord's offense was led by Brian Novak, finishing 21-of-29 for 231 yards and three touchdowns against the Hilltoppers.
- Novak needs just 93 yards to become Concord's all-time leader in passing.
- Nick Loftin also helped pace the CU offense with 126 total yards of offense and a pair of touchdowns against West Liberty.
- Jermeil Douse lead the Mountain Lions through the air with seven receptions for 73 yards.
- Darryl Johnson had a team-high 10 tackles, while Akil Bordelon and Edwin Campbell both picked-off passes against West Liberty to lead the Concord defense.
Last Season at Concord
- After going to the locker room with a 13-3 lead, Concord scored two third-quarter touchdowns to pull away from Fairmont State for the 27-10 victory.
- The Falcons scored their only touchdown of the game with 28 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter when Copper Hibbs hooked up with
Fabian Guerra for the 16-yard touchdown strike.
- After missing the first half of the game,
Marcus Porter racked up eight total tackles, including six solo and three for a loss in the second half to lead the FSU defense.
- Three different running backs crossed the goal line for the Mountain Lions this afternoon, led by Calvinaugh Jones with a pair of touchdowns and 62 yards on 20 carries.
- Guerra ended the game with 77 yards on nine receptions. Hibbs finished the day completing 19-of-29 passes for 143 yards and a score.
