DANIELS, W.Va. -- Fairmont State men's golf finished seventh at the Mountain East Conference Fall Championships this week at Glade Springs Resort, missing the cut for Wednesday's final round by just two shots.
 
Fairmont State opened tournament play with a team score of 316 following the first round, sitting in sixth place entering day two. Bailey Mohr led the Falcons on day one with a team-low 78 in the round. Chase Voithofer and Braden Hammond each finished one shot higher than Mohr, shooting a pair of 79's for the Falcons. Craig Buchanan (80) and Brandon Wilfong (81) wrapped up the FSU scores on Monday.
 
During Tuesday's second round, Fairmont State added six shots to its score to finish the championship in a tie with Wheeling Jesuit for seventh place (638). Mohr's two-day score of 158 paced the Falcons at the event, followed by Voithofer's final total of 159. Mohr and Voithofer each shot a round-low score of 80 on Tuesday for the Falcons.
 
The University of Charleston won the 2017-18 Mountain East Conference Men's Golf Championship over the past three day and will now advance to this spring's Atlantic/East Regional. UC finished with a three-day score of 887 to top West Liberty (890) for first place at the event. West Liberty's Michael Rogers and Concord's Brett Laxton tied for first place at the event with tournament-low scores of 217.
 
FSU will wrap up its fall schedule this Saturday and Sunday at the Cedarville Invitational at Country Club of the North in Beavercreek, Ohio.
