XENIA, Ohio -- Fairmont State men's golf opened its spring schedule by taking second place at the Cedarville Invitational at Country Club of the North in Xenia, Ohio.

Cedarville, who had three players finish in the top seven, won the event with a two-round team score of 590 – finishing 35 strokes ahead of FSU in second place.

Fairmont was led by
Zac Gower with a 76 in the opening round and a 75 in round two, taking eighth place at the invitational. Fairmont totaled four players in the top-15 as
Bailey Mohr placed 14
th with a score of 158, and
Ben Knight and
Chase Voithofer both tied for 15
th with two-round scores of 159.

Statistically, Gower led the tournament with 25 pars.

The Falcons entered day two of the event in fourth place with a score of 315, and cut five strokes in the second round to move up to second place for the tournament.

FSU will return to action on Sunday, April 2 at the Oglebay Resort Intercollegiate in Wheeling.
