TORONTO -- Brooke Kurucz led five Fairmont State scorers in double figures as FSU rolled past Centennial College, 94-51, in Toronto on Wednesday evening.
Fairmont State jumped out to a 28-5 advantage in the opening quarter of the game and never looked back in the victory.
Kurucz finished the contest with 21 points on 10-of-16 from the field. The FSU newcomer also pulled down six rebounds and passed out a pair of assists. Senior post
Kelli Jo Harrison finished just one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Presley Tuttle,
Sierra Kotchman and
Josie Daugherty rounded out the double-figure scorers for FSU with 12 points apiece.
The Falcons shot 40 percent from the field, including 54 percent in the second half, compared to just 28 percent for the Colts. Yasmeen Smith led Centennial with 12 points and 12 boards in the losing effort.
The Falcons drained nine three-pointers, compared to just one for the Colts. FSU also scored 30 points off 28 forced turnovers in the victory.
The Falcons will return to the court on Thursday evening for a 7 p.m. tip against Seneca College.
