CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- After 110 minutes of action, Fairmont State and No. 24 Charleston each settled for a draw on Tuesday afternoon in Mountain East Conference women's soccer action at Trace Fork Field in Charleston.

Charleston took and early 1-0 lead at the 19:43 mark when Lyndsey Thompson scored with an assists from Alana Mikulis early in the game. The shot was one of just three for the Golden Eagles in the opening half of play.

After holding a 4-3 shot advantage following the opening half of play, FSU was outshot 6-2 in the second 45-minute period. However, the only shot that hit the back of the net during the second period was off the foot of Fairmont State's
Abigail Johnson on a penalty kick near the midway point of the half. The score remained 1-1 after 90 minutes of play to send the game into overtime.

In the overtime periods, UC outshot Fairmont State 7-0, but
Shawna Graham and the FSU defense forced each shot to go off target.

Fairmont, who recorded six shots in the game, had just two that were on target. UC finished the afternoon with a 16-6 advantage in shots.

FSU will now prepare for its home opener on Friday evening, when West Liberty comes to town for a 7 p.m. match at Duvall-Rosier Field.
