BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State's
Austin Norman is the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, while Notre Dame's Tyler Gault is the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Norman, a senior from Fairmont, W.Va., earns the honor for a second-straight week after hitting .467 at the plate last week and helping the Falcons take two of three over Pitt-Johnstown. Norman had a hit in each of the three games, driving in eight and scoring four times. The senior had four extra-base hits with two doubles and two home runs, and had two games with three hits over the weekend.
Through eight games this season, Norman is batting .514 (18-of-35) with four home runs, 19 runs batted-in, seven doubles and nine runs scored. Norman has a 1.057 slugging percentage and a .564 on-base percentage on the year. Norman also has multiple hits in six of eight games this season, and has an extra-base hit in seven of eight games.
Gault (Notre Dame), a sophomore from Rittman, Ohio, earned a win on the hill against Davis & Elkins, giving up one run in six innings of work. He also struck out four and allowed a .158 batting average to 19 batters.
