Brill, Voithofer Turn In Top 10 Finishes

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --
 Fairmont State's Chase Voithofer and Sydney Brill turned in solid individual performances for the Falcons over the weekend at the Battle of the Beach Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at the Myrtlewood Golf Club.
 
Voithofer, who was in a four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard after round one, finished fourth in the tournament with a two-day score of 158 to lead the Falcons. The sophomore shot a round-one 78 on Friday before finishing the tournament with an 80 on Saturday afternoon. Voithofer was named to the All-Tournament Team following his performance.
 
Alderson Broaddus' Seth Vannoy took individual honors with a two-day score of 151 to win the event. Jarrett Fitzpatrick (ABU) and Noah Frase (Walsh) rounded out the top three with scores of 155 and 156, respectively. ABU also took first-place in the event as a team, finishing with six fewer shots than Ohio Valley in second place.
 
Brill, who entered day two in 15th place on the leaderboard, shaved 10 shots off her score in round two of the tournament and finished in sixth-place with a two-day score of 174 – three shots out of the top five. Brill tied for the third best round on day two with an 82 to wrap up the tournament.
 
Barton had three of the top five finishers in the event, led by Sydney Turner with a two-day score of 158 – five shots better than the second place finisher. Barton's Clare McMahon (163), Urbana's Jennifer Mitchell (166), Barton's Kelsey Woodall (168) and Ohio Valley's Joslyn Goins (171) rounded out the top five finishers. Barton rolled to the team championship in the tournament with a score of 660.
 
FSU golf will return to action on March 29 at the Mister Bee Intercollegiate in Cambridge, Ohio.
