Falcons Host Preseason Favorite Glenville State Sunday

  • Fairmont State comes into Sunday's matchup with Glenville State with a 5-5 overall record, including a 3-2 mark in conference play. The Falcons have won four of their last six games, with their only losses coming to the University Charleston and Concord – who both sit atop the league standings with 4-1 conference records. Glenville State and Notre Dame are also 4-1 in league play.
  • Concord outlasted Fairmont State in their previous outing, falling by a final score of 81-74 in overtime. Concord outscored Fairmont State 12-5 in the overtime period after the Falcons erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime.
  • Last Saturday at West Virginia State, Fairmont State shot nearly 48 percent from the floor and had 12 three-pointers as the Falcons rolled to a 101-87 victory on the road. In the win, Fairmont State went over 100 points for the first time since January 10, 2017, which was also against WV State.
  • Kamrin Weimer scored a career-high 26 points to lead the Falcons against the Yellow Jackets.
  • After averaging 8.9 points per game a season ago, Weimer has nearly doubled her scoring average this season at 16.0 points per game – which ranks second on the team.
  • Sierra Kotchman, who became the first player in program history to surpass 1,000 points as a sophomore a season ago, is averaging a team-high 20.7 points per game this season.
  • With her 40 three-pointers this season, Kotchman currently leads the country in made 3-pointers this season. She also ranks in the top 50 in the country in 3-point field goal percentage (.430) this season.
  • Kotchman also ranks ninth in the country in total made field goals (73).
  • Senior forward Rachel Laskody ranks 49th in the country in field goal percentage a 55.7 percent this season. Laskody's 86 rebounds are also the 25th most in NCAA Division II this season.
  • Laskody's 4.3 offensive rebounds per game rank 17th in the country and second in NCAA Division II this season.
  • Laskody has reached double figures in each of the last eight games for the Falcons, and has pulled down nine rebounds or more in each of the last four games. Laskody has recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Falcons, scoring 25 points to go with 17 rebounds and seven assists against WV State, before chipping in 16 points and 15 rebounds at Concord on Tuesday night.
  • Laskody currently ranks third on the team in scoring (12.9) and first in rebounding (8.6) this season.
  • Point guard Gracey Lamm currently ranks fourth in the Mountain East Conference, averaging 4.0 assists per game this season. She also leads the conference and ranks 28th in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio.
  • As a team, the Falcons are doing an excellent job at sharing the basketball this season, ranking 21st in the country in total assists (156) and 26th in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio.
  • The Falcons also lead the country in made 3-point field goals, and their 39 percent shooting percent from behind the arc ranks 11th in NCAA Division II.
  • Fairmont State currently ranks 10th in the country and fourth in the MEC in scoring offense at 82.9 points per game. However, the Falcons are being outrebounded by 11.4 boards per game this season.
  • Sunday's opponent, Glenville State, currently leads the country in scoring at 102.8 points per game.
