Lady Falcons Look For Fifth-Straight Win On Senior Day

Women's Basketball Notebook
-The Fairmont State women's basketball team will be looking for its 5th-straight victory on Saturday afternoon when Frostburg State visits Dan Cava Court and Joe Retton Arena for a 2 p.m. tip on senior day.
-Saturday will be the sixth meeting between the programs, with Frostburg State holding a 3-2 all-time series lead over the Falcons. The first matchup between the program's was back in 1982.
-Fairmont State won the first meeting of the season against Frostburg, 92-70. Sierra Kotchman led the Falcons in the victory with 24 points, six rebounds and six assists. Presley Tuttle also chipped in 18 points and six rebounds off the bench for the Falcons.
-Fairmont State earned its fourth-straight victory on Wednesday evening with a 71-64 win over West Virginia Wesleyan at Joe Retton Arena.
-In Wednesday's victory over the Bobcats, Kotchman paced the with a team-high 23 points, while Kamrin Weimer added 13 for Fairmont State.
-The Lady Falcons currently have three players on their roster with 1,000 career points, including Kotchman (1,591), Kurucz (1,085), and Laskody (1,058). Kotchman is currently ninth in school history in scoring and needs just 22 more points to move past Ashley Vavrek (1,612) for eighth in program history. Kurucz currently ranks 26th in program history with 1,085 points, and Laskody ranks 28th with 1,058 points.
-Prior to Saturday's matchup against Frostburg State, Fairmont State seniors Rachel Laskody and Brooke Kurucz will be honored prior to their final game inside Joe Retton Arena.
-Laskody is currently second on the team in scoring and first and rebounding this season at 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per outing. Laskody has 18 career double-doubles and is currently first in program history in first goal percentage at 56.9 percent.
-Laskody currently ranks 16th in the country and fifth in the MEC in field goal percentage this season at 58.2 percent.
-Kurucz is currently fourth on the team in scoring this season at 10.9 points per game. In addition to being a 1,000-point scorer, Kurucz also has 310 rebounds, 160 assists and 102 steals in her three-year Fairmont State career.
-Kotchman, who leads the Falcons in scoring this season at 19.7 points per game, currently ranks 27th in NCAA Division II in active career scoring. In addition, the junior also ranks 11th among active Division II players with 251 made 3-pointers.
-In addition, Kotchaman's 90 three-pointers this season currently rank 8th in NCAA Division II.
-Kotchman's 90 three-pointers this season are the fourth-most in a single season at Fairmont State. The single-season program record was set by Ashley Reed with 116 in 2006.
-Kotchman is also climbing Fairmont's career three-point field goal list, as the junior currently ranks second with 251. The program record for career 3-pointers is 258, set by Kristen Gattuso (2001-05).
-In addition, Kotchman's 88.8 percent career free throw percentage shatters the current program record of 81.2 percent set by Ashley Vavrek.
-Kamrin Weimer ranks second in the MEC and 38th in the country in three-point field goal percentage (40.6) this season.
-Point guard Gracey Lamm currently leads the MEC and ranks 42nd in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.92.
-Fairmont State's 80.8 points per game currently ranks 11th in the country and fourth in the high-scoring Mountain East Conference.
-The Falcons also rank 9th in the country in free throw percentage (79.3).
