FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- On Saturday afternoon, Fairmont State Women's Basketball starts play in the Mountain East Conference when they head to Davis & Elkins College for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Senators.

The Fighting Falcons are coming off a 96-66 defeat on Thursday to California University of Pennsylvania. Alyssa DeAngelo and Jertaya Hall each led the Falcons with 15 points apiece as Fairmont State went 22-56 (39.3%) from the floor in the contest.

D&E is also 1-2 on the season with a win against the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown last Saturday as the Senators took part in the Jim Crawley Conference Challenge hosted by Frostburg State University. The Senators last played on Wednesday, November 17th when Edinboro University handed Davis & Elkins a 77-72 loss.

Davis & Elkins Head Women's Basketball Coach Rachel Swartz enters her second season at the helm of the Senators program with a career record of 3-15.

Freshman Guard Dream Cherry leads the Senators in points per game with 18.3 in three contests as Allie Taylor is averaging 11.7 ppg and Marissa Berlin has 10.7 ppg to round out the scorers in double figures for D&E.

Fairmont State last played Davis & Elkins on January 25th, 2021, inside Joe Retton Arena where Sierra Kotchman collected a game-high 28 points on 10-16 shooting. Kotchman added six assists and two steals to her game totals as well. DeAngelo and Jalen Gibbs contributed with 17 points each with Gibbs shooting 87.5% (7-8) from the floor in the evening. D&E's Jamiyah Johnson led the Senators with 24 points and pulled down 18 board in the game.
