CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Fairmont State men's and women's swimming teams took part in the final day of the Magnus Cup Invitational hosted by Cleveland State. The Fighting Falcons women's swim team finished 11th as a team with the men's team being scored sixth overall.
On the women's side,
Alexis Antol paced the Fighting Falcons with a 17th place finish in the 100 Yard IM as she touched the wall in a time of 1:03.30 in the finals.
Sarah Stallman and
Eulalia Castan finished the 100y IM in a time of 1:08.55 as both touched the wall at the same time.
In the women's 50 Yard Butterfly,Â
Rebecca Kocsis had a time of 30.47 and
Zsofi Bevardi placed 33rd in a time of 27.63 for the Falcons.
Sarah Stallman (37th place) and
Eulalia Castan (39th place) finished in 29.22 and 29.62 to round out the Falcons in the 50y fly.
In the 400 Yard Freestyle relay, Falcon teammates Antol,
Salma Nuino Galan,
Kaitlyn Stumpf, and
Zsofi Bevardi guided Fairmont State to a time of 3:46.53.
Catharina Delduque,
Eulalia Castan,
Sarah Stallman, and
Cheri Signorelli finished the night for the women's swim team in the 400y free relay with a time of 4:02.40.
On the men's side,
Tyler Virtue placed 11th in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 54.55 to highlight the final of the Magnus Cup for the Falcons.
Nathan Fubio was not far behind as he placed 13th in a time of 57.02 as
Kyle Carson (59.16),
Nathan Harvey (59.18), and Christopher Pfaltzgraff (1:04.96) rounded out Fairmont State swimmers in the 100y IM race.
Josep Castan had a quality time of 24.23 to place 14th in the 50y butterfly and
Zackary Bishop followed in 16th in a time of 25.30.
Majester Abdul-Jalil ended completed his individual events in the Magnus Cup with a 7th place finish in the men's 200 Yard Breaststroke in a time of 2:04.88. Abdul-Jalil joined his fellow Falcons in the 400y free relay (
Zackary Bishop,
Kyle Carson, Castan, and Abdul-Jalil) as they finished in a time of 3:22.97. Virtue,
Nathan Fubio,
Patrick Fubio, and
Pedro Gaspar competed as the "A" team for Fairmont State and took 14th place in an overall time of 3:11.98.
Fairmont State swim teams return to the pool on January 15th, 2022, when they host Notre Dame College at the Feaster Center Pool.
