RICHMOND, Va. -- The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) today announced that the Fairmont State men's and women's swimming teams have earned Scholar All-America honors for their efforts in the classroom last semester. The teams received the honor after posting GPAs of 3.60 (men) and 3.38 (women), respectively.

The men's semester GPA of 3.60 is a program record for a single semester.

"Coach Sabrina Buhagiar and her staff didn't let a difficult season stand in the way of success in the pool or in the classroom," noted CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. "These are some of the best ambassadors of Fairmont State and Athletics Director Greg Bamberger, President Mirta Martin, and professor Janet Floyd (Faculty Athletic Representative) can and should be proud of these 27 men & women."

In total, 721 programs from 426 institutions earned recognition. The CSCAA will name its individual Scholar All-America team next week.
