Fairmont State Women's Basketball Faces Hilltoppers on Saturday Afternoon

- Fairmont State is coming into Saturday's contest with an overall record of 8-4 and 6-1 in Mountain East Conference play. The Fighting Falcons head to West Liberty to face the Hilltoppers on Saturday afternoon. WLU picked up the 66-58 victory over Frostburg State on Wednesday night to end a two-game losing streak for the Hilltoppers. 

- Last time out for the Falcons, Fairmont State shook off a slow start in Philippi to earn the 96-76 win over Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday night. The contest was the first game back for the Fighting Falcons since January 2nd.

Alyssa DeAngelo continued her strong play this season as she paced the Falcons with 22 points on 7-16 shooting from the field. Five more Falcons joined DeAngelo in double-digit scoring on the night as Katy Darnell (17 points), Jalen Gibbs (13 points), Madeline Huffman (12 points), Jertaya Hall (12 points), and Sierra Kotchman (10 points) all scoring 10+ points at AB.
-Redshirt Senior Kamrin Weimer is tied for the nation's lead in three-point field goal percentage at 50.0% as Weimer has made 301shots from beyond the arc this season. 

- Redshirt Senior Sierra Kotchman has played and started in 117 consecutive games in her Fighting Falcon career. Kotchman needs three more starts to match Kaitlyn Snyder, 2009-2013, in the Fairmont State record book. Kotchman is the active Division II career leader in points (2,222), three-point field goals (351), free throw percentage (88.1%), field goal attempts (1,864) and three-point field goal attempts (927). Across all NCAA divisions, Kotchman is second in career points (2,222) with Ohio's Cierra Hooks at the top spot with 2,439 points. Kotchman is also tied for fourth in three-point field goals with 351 and third overall in free throw percentage at 88.1% in her career at Fairmont State.

- Head Women's Basketball Coach Stephanie Anderson enters her third season at the helm of the Fighting Falcon program and enters today with an overall record of 30-28 in her coaching career. 

- West Liberty holds the all-time series at 45-38 as the two squads meet up for 84th time in matchup history. The last time the Falcons and Hilltoppers faced was on February 24th, 2021, at West Liberty where WLU secured the 94-69 win. DeAngelo led the Falcons in the scoring column with 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Sierra Kotchman also chipped in 17 points, and Jertaya Hall chipped in 12 points and five rebounds. The all-time series dates to 1979 where West Liberty won 69-52.
- As a team, Fairmont State enters Saturday afternoon third in the country in scoring offense at 85.4 points per game after beating the Battlers ,96-76, on Wednesday night. Glenville State, fellow Mountain East Conference member, leads the nation in scoring offense with 101.2 points per game.

- West Liberty's Audrey Tingle is tied for second in Division II with 10 double-doubles and Tingle had a triple-double on January 5th versus Concord as she collected 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in an 88-81 loss. Five Hilltoppers are averaging double-digits in points this season with Corinne Thomas (14.5 ppg), Bailee Smith (14.2 ppg), Tingle (13.3 ppg), Karly McCutcheon (12.6 ppg), and Arriana Manzay (12.4 ppg) lead the balanced attack.

Fairmont State (8-4, 6-1 MEC) returns to Joe Retton Arena on Monday, January 17th when the Fighting Falcons host Notre Dame College (7-6, 6-2 MEC) at 6 p.m.
