Fairmont State Heads to Alderson Broaddus for MEC Matchup on Wednesday Evening

- Fairmont State is coming into Wednesday's contest with an overall record of 7-4 and 5-1 in Mountain East Conference play. The Fighting Falcons head to Philippi to face Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday evening. AB enters Wednesday with a record of 6-4 and 4-3 in MEC action. The Battlers last played on Saturday, January 10th, at Frostburg State where the Battlers picked up the 66-62 victory over the Bobcats in conference action. The contest between Fairmont State and Alderson Broaddus is make-up game rescheduled from January 5th.

- Last time out, Fairmont State dropped an 86-84 double overtime thriller to Slippery Rock on Sunday, January 2nd inside Joe Retton Arena.

- Alyssa DeAngelo had a career day against Slippery Rock with 26 points, a career-best, as DeAngelo shot 6-15 from the floor and was a perfect 13-13 from the free throw line. Sierra Kotchman followed DeAngelo with 20 points, her fifth game of the season with 20 or more points. Jalen Gibbs rounded out the Falcons in double-figures with 10 points and collected 12 rebounds for a double-double.

-Redshirt Senior Kamrin Weimer leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 52.6% as Weimer has made 30 shots from beyond the arc this season. Weimer is second across all NCAA Divisions with Cassie Mock of Division III Juniata atop the leaderboard at 53.8%.

- Redshire Senior Sierra Kotchman has played and started in 116 consecutive games in her Fighting Falcon career. Kotchman needs four more starts to match Kaitlyn Snyder, 2009-2013, in the Fairmont State record book.

- Head Women's Basketball Coach Stephanie Anderson enters her third season at the helm of the Fighting Falcon program and enters today with an overall record of 29-28 in her coaching career. 

- Fairmont State holds the series all-time series lead, 41-23, over Alderson Broaddus with the series dating back to 1979. The Falcons and AB last played on March 1st, 2021 in the first round of the MEC tournament where the Battlers earned the 85-79 win inside Joe Retton Arena. Kotchman paced the Falcons with 28 points on 10-22 shooting as DeAngelo (22 points) and Madeline Huffman (10 points) joined Kotchman in double-digit points.

- As a team, Fairmont State enters Wednesday night third in the country in scoring offense at 84.5 points per game after being idle last week. Glenville State, fellow Mountain East Conference member, leads the nation in scoring offense with 100.8 points per game.

- Alderson Broaddus has five student-athletes averaging double-digits in points with Iyahnna Williams leading the way at 14.1 points per game. Taylor Isaac (13.2 ppg), Hannah Taylor (11.8 ppg), Nyshae' Weaver (11.1 ppg), and Ariyah Douglas (10.4 ppg) join Williams in double-figure points on the season.

- Fairmont State is second in points per game (84.5 ppg) in the MEC with Glenville State being in the top spot while averaging 100.8 points per game. Alderson Broaddus is in the third spot as the Battlers average 81.1 points per contest.


The Fighting Falcons (7-4, 5-1 MEC) are back in action on Saturday afternoon at West Liberty. The contest is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
