FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- No. 10 Fairmont State Acrobatics & Tumbling took down Mountain East Conference rival West Liberty this afternoon, 260.845 to 238.895, as six Fighting Falcon seniors were recognized in the meet.

Fairmont State is now 6-1 on the season and 5-0 in conference meets while the Hilltoppers are now 4-3 overall and 4-1 in MEC action. The Fighting Falcons won all six events on the day with Alexis Smith notching a 9.800 in the Open Pass of the Tumbling Event in today's meet.

In the compulsory event, Fairmont State staked out to an early 36.75-36.20 over the Hilltoppers as the Falcons registered a 9.55 in the Pyramid heat.

Fairmont State continued to add to its lead in the Acro Event with an event total of 27.95. The Falcons collected two 9.35s in the first two heats and a 9.25 score to round out the second event of the afternoon.

The Pyramid event belonged to the Falcons as well with an event total of 28.80 to West Liberty's 28.15. At the halftime break, Fairmont State held the advantage, 93.50 to 91.65.

In the Toss Event, Fairmont State collected an 8.95 in the 450 Salto Toss to start the second half of the competition. The Falcons added an 8.65 in the open heat to earn a score of 25.45 in the event.

 Fairmont State paced the Hilltoppers in the Tumbling Event as well with an event total of 53.375 to WLU's 46.725. Zara Christophe registered a 9.050 in the aerial pass of the Tumbling Event with Kathryn Koehl collecting the 9.125 in the six-element pass. Smith tallied an event-high 9.800 in the open pass.

The Fighting Falcons closed the meet with a score of 88.52 as Fairmont State knocked off the MEC Preseason favorite, West Liberty, inside Joe Retton Arena on Sunday afternoon. Fairmont State Athletics also recognized six seniors today. 

No. 10 Fairmont State (6-1, 5-0 MEC) closes out its regular-season schedule on April 1 as the Falcons travel to take on Glenville State at 6 p.m.
