FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State Baseball is set to play Concord University in the opening round of the Mountain East Conference Baseball Tournament at 7 p.m. from Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley, W.Va.
The Fighting Falcons finished the regular season with a record of 27-20 and 22-10 in conference contests. The 27 wins on the 2022 campaign are the most since Fairmont State went 29-24 in the 2017 season where they knocked off Concord University in the opening round of the MEC Tournament by a final of 12-6. The 22 victories in league action is also a program-best since the start of the conference in 2014.
In the 2022 season, Fairmont State faced the Mountain Lions on April 3
rd in Bridgeport where the Falcons swept Concord in the doubleheader. Fairmont State rallied past CU, 8-6, in the first game with seven total runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Concord finished second in the MEC South Divison with a record of 31-17-1 and 20-12 in conference action. The Mountain Lions are led by sophomore infielder Zack Saryeldin and graduate student Anthony Stehlin. Saryeldin posts a batting average of .435 on the season and has 36 RBIs on the season. Stehlin has been a mainstay in the Concord lineup since 2019 and has multiple conference and regional recognitions in his collegiate career. Stehlin also serves as the closer for the Mountain Lions as he has a team-high seven saves in 13 appearances with an earned-run average of 2.00.
