WARREN, Ohio --Â The Fairmont State men's golf team posted a second round score of 301 and moved into fourth place and is six strokes off the lead after play on Tuesday (Oct. 3) at the Mountain East Conference Golf Championships in Warren, Ohio.
Alex Turowski shot two strokes under par on Tuesday and is five strokes behind the leader, Francisco Taboada, heading into the final round. All five Falcons shot below an 80 in the second round on Tuesday.
Matthew Barrish completed a round of 75 and is tied for 13th with
Jack Hayes, who recorded a second round of 79.
Clark Craig matched his first round score of 79 in day two while
John Logan Taylor fired a 77 in the second round. The men's team will tee off at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 4) to start play in the final round.
The women's team narrowly missed the cut and tied West Liberty after two rounds of competition. The Hilltoppers won the tiebreaker from the 10th hole 20-to-21 and advanced to Wednesday's final round. Emerson Simmons (171) and
Mia Chambers (174) advanced as individual competitors and will compete for medalist honors in the final day.
