CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Fairmont State University men's and women's swimming teams competed in a tri-match against Shippensburg University and hosts, California University of Pennsylvania.
Starting with the women's side, the 200 Medley Relay kicked off the day as
Alexis Antol,
Marra Johnson,
Julia Bobersky and
Olivia Ridenour combined for a time of 2:01.29. In the 1,000-yard Free, Alicia Perez finished third with a time of 11:20.99 as
Ashlyn Bennington swam the event in 12:04.05.
Rachel Shryock placed second in the 200 Free, hitting the wall in 2:04.00 with
Mia Abruzzino stopping the clock at 2:07.61.Â
Moving to the 50 Free,
Zoe Hoover earned second in the race with a time of 25.94. For the 200 Individual Medley, Johnson and
Cassidy Driver finished back-to-back with times of 2:26.88 and 2:27.01, respectively. Bobersky swam again in the 200 Fly and placed fourth with a time of 2:34.60. In the 100 Free, Hoover and Shryock finished second and third as they hit the wall in 56.12 and 57.73, respectively. Perez led the way for the Falcons in the 500 Free as she claimed the top-spot with a time of 5:32.84 while Abruzzino was right behind in second, hitting the wall in 5:33.22. In the final event of the day for the women's team, the 200 Free Relay, the quartet of Hoover, Shryock, Antol and Abruzzino placed third with a time of 1:46.54.
For the men's team,
Carter Redelman,
Zackary Bishop,
George Ferguson and
Chris Hoover swam the 200 Medley Relay in 1:40.30. For the 1,000-yard Free,
Adam Fubio posted a time of 12:01.34 while his brother
Patrick Fubio won the 200 Free with a time of 1:47.56.
Adam Demaree placed second in the 50 Free with a time of 22.76 as
Jayden Starks hit the wall in 24.91. In the 200 IM,
Grant Ridenour swam the race in 2:07.35 as
Zachary Groe was right behind him with a time of 2:12.70.
The next race was the 200 Fly as Ferguson (2:03.78) and Redelman (2:06.41) finished second and third, respectively.
Patrick Fubio picked up another first-place in the 200 Back with a time of 1:57.74 as Bishop also took home first, in the 200 Breast, with a time of 2:16.07. The final race for the men's team was the 200 Free Relay as
Patrick Fubio, Bishop, Demaree and Ridenour finished with a time of 1:31.93.
Fairmont State's next race will be against Frostburg State University on Monday, October 28 from the Mahaney Natatorium. Start time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
