FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University swimming teams hosted Davis & Elkins College and Salem University on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons swept both the Senators and the Tigers from the Mahaney Natatorium.
The men's squad bested the Senators by the score of 106.50 to 77.50 and the Tigers by the score of 106 to 93. On the women's side, the Falcons were victorious over D&E 232.50-150.00 and as well as a 239-156 win over Salem.
The women's team started the day off with a win in the 400 Medley Relay as
Alexis Antol,
Marra Johnson,
Julia Bobersky and
Olivia Ridenour combined for a time of 4:24.48.
Mia Abruzzino added to the win total with first-place finishes in the 500 Free (5:32.78) and the 1,000 Free (11:12.18).Â
Rachel Shryock continued the strong day for the Falcons with a win the 200 Free as she hit the wall in 2:05.42.
Zoe Hoover earned two first-place finishes in the 50 Free and 100 Free with times of 25.17 and 55.74, respectively. Alicia Perez earned another win for FSU with a time of 2:21.79 in the 200 IM.Â
In the 100 Back, Antol hit the wall first in 1:02.85 as
Olivia Ridenour finished first in the 100 Breast, stopping the clock at 1:13.06. The final win of the day for the women's team came in the 400 Free Relay. The quartet of Perez, Antol, Shryock and Hoover swam the event in 3:53.35.
On the men's side, the day got started in the 400 Medley Relay as well with a win. The foursome of
Patrick Fubio,
Zackary Bishop,
George Ferguson and
Adam Demaree won with a time of 3:37.55.
Carter Redelman earned wins in the 100 Fly and 200 Free as he finished with times of 51.60 and 1:46.58, respectively.Â
Later,
Patrick Fubio finished first in the 100 Back, as he completed the race in 50.38. The final win for the men's squad came in the 400 Free Relay as Ferguson, Redelman, Ridenour and Fubio hit the wall in 3:14.14.
Fairmont State's next time in the pool will come on Thursday, November 21 as the team takes part in the Malone Invitational in Canton, Ohio. The event will take place over three days.
