CANTON, Ohio - The Fairmont State University men's and women's swimming teams completed wrapped up its final events at the GMAC/MEC Swimming Championships. The men's team finished fourth out of nine teams with 719.50 points while the women's team placed fifth out of 10 teams with 555 points.
The evening session got started with
Mia Abruzzino in the 1650 Free as she finished seventh with a time of 18:15.49. With her finish, Abruzzino was named Second Team All-MEC in the 1650 Free.
In the men's 100 Free,
Gabriel Peragallo reached the podium with a third-place finish with a time of 45.61, earning First Team All-MEC honors.
Patrick Fubio followed with a strong performance of his own in the 200 Back as he claimed second with a time of 1:51.57 and First Team All-MEC.
The next All-MEC honors came in the women's 400 Free Relay as
Alexis Antol, Abruzzino, Alicia Perez and
Zoe Hoover was fifth-overall with a time of 3:42.88 and named Second Team. On the men's side in the same event, the quartet of Fubio,
Grant Ridenour,
Chris Hoover and Peragallo placed fourth, hitting the wall in 3:10.13 and Second Team as well.
Fairmont State will hopefully set it sights on the NCAA Division II National Championships on March 13 through March 16 in Geneva, Ohio.
