CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University women's and men's golf teams opened the 2024-25 campaign at the University of Charleston Invitational. The women's team placed 10th while the men's team finished 13th.
For the women,
Emerson Simons led the Falcons with a two-round score of 172 and finished 35th-overall.
Marra Johnson was 10 strokes behind her teammate (182) while
Skyler Jefairjian finished the 36 holes with a score of 186.
Mia Chambers and
Abigail Lint rounded out the starting five with a scores of 188 and 193, respectively.
Gianna Koski and
Lanae Streets competed as individuals as Koski carded a 201 with Streets reporting a 204.
Senior Alex Turowsi led the way for Fairmont State with a three-round total of 218 as he shot a three-under, 68 in round two.
Caleb Young finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 223 and finished 33rd while
Ben Ritenour carded a 231 and placed 64th.
Liam Lohr completed the team scoring with 241, earning 87th. Individually,
Mason Lapana and
Nik Tomblin competed for the Falcons as Lapana ended with a 231 (64th) while Tomblin came in with a 246 (96th).
The men's team next tournament is the Dr. Wally Edgell Classic hosted by Davis & Elkins on Sunday, September 15 through Tuesday, September 17 at the Raven Golf Club in Snowshoe, W.Va. For the women, they will host their own invitational on the same dates from Green Hills Country Club, here in Fairmont, W.Va.
