CANTON, Ohio -- The Fairmont State University men's and women's swimming teams kicked off the first day of the Mountain East Conference Championships. After the opening day, the women's team currently sits third while the men's team is in fifth.
On the men's side, the finals got started in the 200 Medley Relay in which
Carter Redelman,
Zackary Bishop,
Patrick Fubio and
Grant Ridenour took home first in the conference with a time of 1:32.21. This is the fourth-straight year that Fairmont State claimed first in the competition. In the 200 Free Relay, the team of
Zackary Bishop,
George Ferguson,
Adam Demaree and
Grant Ridenour finished third as they hit the wall in 1:28.27.
For the women, the quartet of
Alexis Antol,
Olivia Ridenour,
Marra Johnson and
Zoe Hoover placed third in the 200 Medley Relay for the MEC with a time of 1:51.85. Later in the night, the pairing of
Zoe Hoover,
Rachel Shryock,
Alexis Antol and
Mia Abruzzino finished third for the conference championship, posting a time of 1:40.57. Hoover later picked up a second-place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 24.47.Â

Fairmont State will continue its stay in Canton, Ohio for Day 2 of the MEC Championships on Thursday, February 13. Prelims are set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
