PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. -- The Fairmont State University men's and women's golf teams took part in the Pawley's Island Beach Bash in South Carolina. The men's team finished 12th while the women's team placed 9th.
Caleb Young led the Falcons with a two-day score of 158 (75-83) followed by
Liam Lohr as he had rounds of 83 and 82.
Ben Ritenour carded a 78 for the opening round and then shot an 88 on the second day.
Mason Lapana had a total of 169 for the 36-hole event as
Jack Hayes turned in rounds of 86 and 85.
Nik Tomblin was the final Falcon to compete and shot rounds of 87 and 86.
On the women's side,
Emerson Simons was the lowest scorer for Fairmont State as she had rounds of 93 and 85.
Skyler Jefairjian and
Mia Chambers were the next two for FSU with scores of 191 and 192, respectively. For the two-day tournament,
Mia Chambers finished with 192 as
Gianna Koski (197),
Marra Johnson (202) and Lanae Street (210) completed the competitors for the Falcons.
The women's team will take part in the California Vulcan Fire Classic in Washington, Pa. on Monday, March 24 through Tuesday, March 25. The men's next tournament will be the MEC Spring Tournament on Sunday, March 23 through Monday, March 24 from Berry Hills C.C. in Charleston, West Virginia.
