BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State University baseball program has been voted third in the North Division in the 2026 Mountain East Conference preseason poll. The MEC's 11 head coaches each submitted a ballot, but were not permitted to vote for their own team.
In 2025, the Falcons had a historic season posting a 28-28 record and going 17-11 in MEC games. Fairmont State made its way to the MEC Tournament Championship game before making it to the NCAA Atlantic Regional for the first time in program history. The team defeated West Chester in the regional for the first NCAA Regional win in the team's history.
Frostburg State University and the University of Charleston were selected as this year's favorites in their respective divisions. Defending MEC Champions, Point Park, was picked second in the north while Concord was selected second in the south.
Fairmont State opens the season on Friday, February 20 against Walshu University at Dale Miller Field in Morgantown, West Virginia. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
