Women's Soccer Ranks Second in Latest Atlantic Region NCAA Power Index Rankings

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University women's soccer team is ranked second in the Atlantic Regional in the latest NCAA Division II National Power Index (NPI) ranking released Monday, November 2.

Fairmont State dropped down to No. 2 in the region and to the No. 15 spot nationally with an NPI rating of 59.983.

The NPI is a new ranking system adopted by Division II for the 2026-27 academic year to help evaluate teams for NCAA Tournament selection. The system uses a data-driven formula that considers a team's wins and losses, strength of schedule and quality of opponents.

Unlike traditional rankings, the NPI evaluates teams on a national scale, allowing programs from different conferences and regions to be compared using the same system.

Fairmont State is one of three MEC teams ranked among the top eight in the Atlantic Region. Frostburg State is ranked No. 5 while Point Park is No. 8 in the Atlantic Region.

The Falcons are set to host an MEC Semifinal match on Wednesday, November 4 against Davis & Elkins College. Start time for the match is set for 7:00 p.m.
