BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week's Female Tennis Player of the Week award. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Fairmont State's Maria Fonseca has been named the MEC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second-straight week.

Fonseca, a senior from Porto, Portugal, helped Fairmont State women's tennis go 2-0, Fonseca was a perfect 4-0. As the team swept Bluefield State, 7-0, Fonseca and Gopar won at No. 2 doubles over Anna Felip/ Sirisha Dheer, 6-4. At No. 1 singles, Fonseca won in straight sets over Ekin Ozmen, 6-3/6-1. The team then defeated West Liberty by the score of 5-0. Fonseca and Gopar defeated Sanchita Dabas / Courtney Curnutte at No. 2 doubles, 6-1. At No. 1 singles, Fonseca defeated Maria Martirosyan, 6-3/6-1.
