FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University men's tennis faced Salem University in a home match. The Falcons cruised past the Tigers, 7-0.
The Falcons came out sharp in doubles, taking control early by winning all three courts in identical fashion.
Kusunoki Haruto and
Noah Liedtke set the tone at No. 1 with a decisive 6-2 victory, while
Keagan Karungagaran and
Gabriel Masu matched that score at No. 2.
Mohamed El Helaly and
Gustavo Masu completed the doubles sweep with another 6-2 win at No. 3, giving Fairmont State a commanding start.
In singles, the Falcons continued to roll, winning all six matches in convincing fashion. Haruto led from the top spot with a strong 6-1, 7-5 win, battling through a tighter second set to secure the point.
Gabriel Masu followed with a composed 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2, and
Noah Liedtke added a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3.
Karungagaran controlled his match at No. 4, winning 6-2, 6-3, while El Helaly delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 rout at No. 5.
Gustavo Masu capped off the sweep at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-4 victory.
Fairmont State (12-2) returns to conference play on Saturday, April 11 against the University of Charleston at the Fairmont State University Tennis Courts. The match is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
