The Matchup
- The 8-3 and 24
th-ranked Fairmont State men's basketball team will return to action on Sunday afternoon as the Falcons wrap up non-league play against Bluefield State (4-8 overall).
- Sunday will be the 71
st all-time meeting between Fairmont State and Bluefield State, with the Falcons dominating the all-time series with a 58-12 all-time series lead. Fairmont State won the last meeting between the programs back in 2012, when the Falcons picked up an 82-72 win. Both teams were members of the WVIAC during that season.
- Fairmont State enters 2019 with an 8-3 overall record and is currently ranked No. 24 in the D2SIDA National Media Poll. The Falcons fell six spots in the rankings after falling to No. 3 IUP back on Dec. 14 (83-64).

- Fairmont State returned from the holiday break by defeating Cheyney, 81-72, in an exhibition game on Sunday, Dec. 30 at Joe Retton Arena. The Falcons had five double-figure scorers in the victory, led by 
R.J. Hutcherson with 19 points and 11 rebounds to record a double-double.

Ron Alston (11) also reached double-figures on offense for Fairmont State.

- Fairmont State is ranked 22

Jason Jolly, the school's all-time leader in made three-pointers with 259, currently ranked third in the country in 3-point field goals per game (4.00). Jolly's 44 three-point field goals this season rank 14
th in NCAA Division II and third in the MEC.
- Concord's Jair Rodgers (4.73), UVa-Wise's Briggs Parris (4.64) and Jolly (4.00) are the top three players in the national rankings in 3-point field goals per game.
- The Falcons also rank 37
th in the country in turnovers per game, averaging just 11.4 per game this season.
 
The Leaders
- Three players are averaging double-figure scoring for the Falcons this season, led by Jolly at 19.5 points per game. Jolly is shooting over 42 percent from behind the arc this season with 44 three-pointers on the year.

Vonte Montgomery is second on the team in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game to go with 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Montogmery leads the team in rebounds and assists this season.
- Montgomery has led the Falcons in scoring in three of the last four regular season games, including 30-point scoring performances in each of the last two games. Montgomery netted 33 points against West Liberty before leading the Falcons with 30 points against IUP. Montgomery has also led the Falcons in rebounds in four of the last five games.

Andrew Emrick is third on the team in scoring at 10.4 points per game. Emirck is shooting a team-high 62.5 percent from the field this season.

Cole VonHandorf is averaging just below double-figures at 9.5 points per game this season. VonHandorf is third on the team in 3-point field goals (18) and has a team-high 14 steals on the year.

R.J. Hutcherson is also having a big year off the bench for the Falcons this season, shooting nearly 43 percent from behind the arc with 17 three-pointers on the year. Hutcherson also has a team-high seven blocks this season.
- In addition to Montgomery's 6.4 rebounds per game this season, Kenzie Melko (5.4) and
