FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State Men's Basketball enters the weekend and Mountain East Conference with a 3-0 overall record on the season as they handed California University of Pennsylvania a 95-92 loss last night. The Fighting Falcons head to Davis & Elkins for a 4 p.m. tip against the Senators on Saturday afternoon. D&E has an overall record of 1-2 on the season with their only win on the season coming against Seton Hill on Wednesday, November 17th.
Briggs Parris hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 50 seconds left in regulation to give the Fighting Falcons an 89-88 lead at Cal (Pa.). Parris finished the night with 27 points and was 4-6 shooting from three-point range. The Falcons shot well from the field as they were 35-68 (51.5%) from the floor and added 11 threes on the night
Isaiah Sanders has made 16 consecutive free throws to start the season and leads the Falcons in points per game averaging 23.7.
Zyon Dobbs follows with 17.7 ppg and pulls down 5.7 rebounds per game as well.
SCOUTING DAVIS & ELKINS
D&E dropped their first two contests on the 2021-22 season with a pair of close losses to Shaw University and Livingstone College in the Earl Lloyd Classic hosted by West Virginia State University.
Sam Rolle IV leads the Senators in points per game (21.67 ppg) as he sits in fourth in the MEC in scoring totals. Sanders is in third as he averages 23.7 ppg in three contests. D&E's Breland Walton joins Rolle IV in double figures in points with 15 points per game and averages 9.67 rebounds per game as well.
As a team, Davis & Elkins is sixth overall in the conference with points per game (78.7) and gives up on average 79.7 ppg on the season. Fairmont State is fourth in points averaging 85.0 in three contests and holds the number one scoring defense in the MEC at 66.3 ppg.
